Beginner's Beekeeping Course 2016 - 20th/21st February
Eighteen people attended the weekend course at Eathorpe Village Hall. Course tutors were Dave Bonner, Mike Priest and Bill Crofts. The feedback from the group was, once again, very positive (see document below). Many of the group were later able to attend a 'hands-on' session at the Ryton Apiary.
Beginner's Beekeeping Course 2015 - 21st/22nd February
Eleven prospective beekeepers attended this weekend course at Eathorpe Village Hall. Course tutors were Dave Bonner, Peter Barclay and Bill Crofts. All attendees seemed to cope very well with the mixture of presentations and demonstrations on offer and their feedback was very positive (See document link below)
Beginner's Beekeeping Course 2014 - 8th/9th February.
The course was held at Eathorpe Village Hall and 24 candidates attended. The course tutors were Dave Bonner, Roger Moore and Bill Crofts. Other branch members helped by bringing beekeeping equipment or by helping to set-up and pack away the hall before and after the event.
Despite the fact that circumstances forced us to change the venue to Eathorpe Village Hall, we were actually very pleased with it as a facility for this event.
The course appears to have been very well received by those that attended it. An opportunity to put on beesuits and handle bees will be offered to all those that attended. This will probably occur at the branch apiary at Ryton Organic Gardens in about April time when the weather is more suitable for opening the hives.
A summary of feedback on the course can be seen in the document below.

The images below show the candidates and branch members who helped organise and run the course. Other images show candidates who later attended the practical activities at the Ryton apiary.
The course took place at the National Beekeeping Centre, Stoneleigh Park, and the candidates were issued with a certificate of their successful completion at the end of the course.
